Neuro Linguistic Programming
"NLP may be the most powerful vehicle for change in existence" - Modern Psychology Neuro-Linguistic Programming teaches people to run their brains/minds. It is also about modelling the human excellence, linguistics and behavioural patterns and modalities of humans. It is being used by teachers, sports coaches, personal coaches, doctors, lawyers, nurses, clergy people, accountants, negotiators, managers, entrepreneurs, motivational speakers, and so on and so forth.
Developed around 1973 by Richard Bandler, a psychology student,
and John Grinder, a linguistics professor, with additional input from the social
scientist Gregory Bateson. Neuro linguistic programming (NLP) refers to the
study of neurology (the brain), linguistics (the use of language), and patterns
of behaviour that you can observe or that have been learned through experience (programmes). NLP as a therapy is a set of techniques for modifying language, behaviour, and experience.
Definitions of NLP from the co-creators of NLP themselves
"NLP is an attitude which is an insatiable curiosity about human beings with a methodology that leaves behind it a trail of techniques." Richard Bandler (co-creator of NLP)
"The strategies, tools and techniques of NLP represent an opportunity unlike any other for the exploration of human functioning, or more precisely, that rare and valuable subset of human functioning known as genius." John Grinder (co-creator of NLP)
NLP is about communication
NLP is about language
NLP is about modelling excellence
NLP is about mastering your mind
NLP is the study of internal experience
NLP is a myriad of methods and models and the understanding of how people think, behave and change. It offers a flexible approach which brings about positive, fast change in individuals and organisations and empowers them to adapt to an ever-shifting world.
NLP training provides the skills to define and achieve your outcomes or goals and a heightened awareness of your five senses, allowing you to remain flexible, on track and maintain rapport with those around you.
Understanding how you have learnt to make sense of your experiences
consciously and unconsciously via perception, thoughts, and feelings enables
you to make changes in the way that you process information and communicate with others.
Applications of NLP
NLP techniques are widely practised around the world and have been extensively researched. NLP has been applied to everything from relationship problems and phys
and mental conditions to the workplace and the training of salespeople.
